5 Year Old Double Wood

Only the finest Ex Bourbon Casks are selected for extra maturation in Virgin American Oak Barrels for a minimum of one year.

This second maturation gives the whiskey subtle depth, natural colour and character as befitting the use of "two woods".

“Complex, as you would hope. Nutty, as you wouldn’t expect; light licorice as you well might. But the malt pulses through, too…as it should. Very attractive…; the delivery isn’t immediately interested in cask selection: it is the malt which explodes of the palate – youthful, sprightly and robust. Slowly the tannins zero in and make their mark, bringing a lot of spice into play in the process. The midpoint is probably the highlight, with barley sugar candy in rich association with warm tannins and red licorice; much softer oak, but remains rich; a malt which works very well indeed, and deserves to. And even more so if at a greater strength and non-filtration. Impressive and highly enjoyable Irish which gives you minimum blarney and the truest flavor profile.”
